Sampurna Celebrates Holi With Senior Citizens, Remembers The People Who Were Lost To Covid And Cherishes The Ones Who Are Still Here

Sampurna organized an event 'Sampurna Ke Sang, Holi Ke Rang' to celebrate Holi under the banner of Recreation Center for Senior Citizen. The event was organized especially for the merriment of the elders who are associated with the Sampurna Center. The guests were welcomed with a tilak of kumkum and sandalwood as well as were honored with shawls and patkas. Dr Shobha Vijender, Founder President, addressed the gathering and wished them a Happy Holi and hoped that they remained in good health. Dr Shobha said that this event was especially organized to commemorate one of the invaluable members of Sampurna Late Smt Shashi Jain who was the inspiration behind Sampurna's Mask Making Project which has been a tremendous success.

There were many senior citizens who were attending Sampurna’s event for Senior Citizens for the very first time and expressed how much they liked it.

Shri Vijender Gupta, MLA Rohini, was the Chief Guest. He addressed the attendees and expressed his heartfelt Holi greetings to everyone. He said that through Sampurna’s efforts, this little family of Senior Citizens comes together and celebrates a festival like a family and that he was especially looking forward to the Gujia and Kachori.

Ram Nayyar who is the coordinator of Recreation Center for Senior Citizens and PRO of Rohini Federation of CGH Societies presented a poem especially for the event and was felicitated.

Neeru Jain, who has been associated with the Recreation Center since 2018 expressed how respected and at home she felt in Sampurna. More than 50 senior citizens attended the event along with associate members and team of Sampurna. Everyone praised the event since the festival of colors had not been celebrated properly for more than 2 years.

Santosh Puniyani, 72, entertained the crowd with her humorous Haryanvi songs and brought a lot of laughter to the event. Jagdish Kumar, another senior citizen associated with Recreation Center sang masterful renditions of old Kishore Kumar songs. The performance was especially loved by the audience.

Anil Agravanshi, international poet also graced the even with his presence and created a happy, laughter filled environment with his quirky and humorous anecdotes. He also dedicated a few lines to Sampurna and women empowerment and said, ‘Kabhi jeevan mei beti ko nazarandaaz mat karna, zara se pankh khologe to ye akaash choolegi.’

Later, everyone danced to the Holi themed songs and played Holi with Gulal and rose petals. In the end, delicious Gujia and Kachori were served. It was truly a program filled with happiness and joy as Holi was finally celebrated again after a long and tedious wait of two years. A happy Holi to all from Sampurna!
